Kim Junho teases star-studded, side-splitting lineup for BICF 2024
The laughs are about to get louder in Busan. Comedian Kim Junho joined fellow comedy legends at a press conference on July 1 at Stanford Hotel Seoul to announce details of the much-anticipated 13th Busan International Comedy Festival (BICF), Asia’s largest comedy festival.
Running from August 29 to September 7, this year’s BICF will once again take over venues in Haeundae, Busan, dishing up a heavy dose of humor with a global twist. From opening night at BEXCO Auditorium to city-wide performances, the festival promises a fresh mix of Korea’s biggest comedy names, up-and-coming content creators, and comic artists from around the world.
Big names, bold laughs
The press event brought together a who’s who of Korean comedy, including Kim Junho (serving as festival executive director), Lee Hongryeol, Byeon Kisoo, Ahn Youngmi, and Song Younggil. Also in attendance were Lee Sangho, Lee Sangmin, Shin Yoonseung, and Jo Sooyeon, each of whom shared their excitement for this year’s comedic spectacle.
“This year’s lineup is one of the most diverse and international we’ve seen yet,” said Kim Junho. “We’re not just aiming for laughs—we’re delivering new cultural experiences through the language of comedy.”
More than memes and punchlines
The BICF isn’t just another festival—it’s a Hallyu-powered celebration of humor that bridges borders. Think Netflix meets Saturday Night Live—live, improvised, and sometimes hilariously lost in translation. The event plays a unique role in showcasing Korea’s comedic talent on the international stage, while also introducing global audiences to new comic cultures.
With an all-star lineup and a city devoted to entertainment, the festival is expected to draw thousands of attendees, from diehard gag fans to curious tourists looking for a good laugh in Korea’s coastal paradise.
Mark your calendars—Busan is bringing the funny
As Kim Junho and crew gear up for another unforgettable year, one thing is clear: in 2024, comedy has a home in Busan. Whether you’re into high-energy skits, stand-up, or slapstick, this festival has something for everyone. Ready to LOL in Haeundae?
