Japanese actor and director Matsushige Yutaka held a successful press conference in Korea ahead of the March 19 release of ‘The Solitary Gourmet: The Movie.’ Having been involved in every aspect of the film’s production, Matsushige shared his passion for storytelling and the challenges of attracting audiences to theaters.
He acknowledged Korean fans’ deep affection for ‘The Solitary Gourmet’ series, recalling moments when he felt their support even on the streets. Matsushige highlighted how food serves as a universal language of emotion and connection, which is a key theme in the movie. Notably, he selected Korean actor Yoo Jae-myung for a role after being impressed by his performance in ‘Voice of Silence.’
Following the press event, a special fan session allowed Matsushige to personally engage with audiences by distributing Japanese dried natto and his business cards. The event also featured a surprise appearance by Yoo Jae-myung, thrilling fans in attendance.
Matsushige teased a special message for Korean fans hidden in the post-credits scene and encouraged viewers to stay until the very end. He will also participate in stage greetings on March 14 and 15.
‘The Solitary Gourmet: The Movie’ takes the protagonist on a food journey across France, Japan, and Korea, in search of the ultimate bowl of soup. With Matsushige’s heartfelt connection to audiences, the film is expected to resonate deeply with Korean viewers.
