Shin Ramyun Gets a Spicy Upgrade With New Korean Hot Pot Kits

The Japanese brand KOREAN FOOD COLLECTION drops two new instant hot pot kits—Budae Jjigae and Kimchi Jjigae—made with the iconic Shin Ramyun. These spicy stew packs offer an easy way to experience nostalgic Korean flavors.

Spicy, Steamy, and Ready in Minutes

If you thought Shin Ramyun was just an instant noodle, think again. The hit Japanese brand KOREAN FOOD COLLECTION (Korikore) has unveiled two sizzling new products made for stew lovers: Budae Jjigae and Kimchi Jjigae kits, both built around the beloved Shin Ramyun.

What’s in the Pack?

Set to launch nationwide in Japan starting October 6, 2025, these new hot pot kits combine a single pack of Shin Ramyun with Korikore’s signature concentrated seasoning sauce. Just add your favorite ingredients, simmer, and voilà—K-style comfort food in one pot.

Each kit is portioned for two people, making it perfect for roommates, couples, or anyone who doesn’t want leftovers for days. As smaller households become more common, this downsized but flavor-packed format hits the sweet spot.

Budae Jjigae & Kimchi Jjigae: Explained

Budae Jjigae, also known as Korean army stew, is a punchy mix of sausage, spam, kimchi, and instant noodles—basically a saucy reunion of East meets West.

Kimchi Jjigae is Korea’s quintessential comfort stew—spicy, savory, and bold, usually served bubbling hot with aged kimchi and tofu.

Both flavors aim to recreate not just a dish, but a memory. “We wanted the taste to remind people of the kind of jjigae that warms your soul, like the one you grew up eating,” explains a rep from Nongshim Japan, the company that developed the line.

Not Just Restaurant Flavor—Real Korean Memory

Unlike fancy restaurant-style recreations, Korikore focused on delivering the everyday flavor Koreans know and love. The product development team—which includes both Korean and Japanese staff at Nongshim Japan—combined personal taste memories, sharing “the best jjigae I ever had” stories to pin down the perfect flavor.

Each package showcases a bold, appetizing stew photo and a clear breakdown of what’s inside: Shin Ramyun plus flavor-packed sauce. The aim? Make Korean cooking less intimidating and more inviting—because good stew shouldn’t require a master’s degree in pantry ingredients.

Spice Up Your Dinner Plans

Whether you’re a K-food newbie or a jjigae veteran, these new kits are your shortcut to serious flavor. Just boil, stir, and bite into Korea’s beloved spice culture—without the plane ticket.

Your only problem? Deciding whether you’re more of a sausage and cheese stew fan or a diehard kimchi devotee.
