[CBC News] South Korea’s beloved indie band Jannabi has been making waves at spring university festivals across the country, earning a reputation for turning each performance into a heartfelt journey through youth and music. From Dankook and Sungkyunkwan to Yonsei and Hanyang, Jannabi performed at ten different campuses, delivering live shows that struck a chord with students and alumni alike.
This season’s setlists were carefully crafted with fan favorites, each song resonating deeply with the audience. More than just fueling festival energy, Jannabi’s performances told stories—narratives of youth, love, and self-discovery. Their ability to read the crowd’s mood and weave guitar sounds with immersive stage production elevated the experience into something magical.
In one standout moment, a sudden downpour and sound issues could have derailed the performance—but not for Jannabi. Instead, the band embraced the challenge, blending the rain and technical difficulties into the performance itself. Audience reactions were overwhelmingly positive. One fan commented, “The weather only made the atmosphere more intense.” Another added, “Singing in the rain with everyone felt like the definition of青春(youth).” Online communities buzzed with praise following the shows.
Jannabi’s recent campus tour is part of a larger, ambitious journey. Following the April release of their fourth full album, Sound of Music pt.1, and a collaborative single with aespa’s Karina titled “In the Name of Love!,” Jannabi has continued to reinvent their signature heartfelt style. Their commitment to community also shone through, with all proceeds from their concert merchandise being donated to charitable causes.
Beyond university festivals, Jannabi released a special collaboration track, Beautiful Dream, in partnership with Hyundai Motor Company. Meanwhile, their ongoing national tour, All the Boys and Girls 2025, further solidifies their status as Korea’s premier storytelling live band. The tour will conclude with performances on June 14–15 in Gwangju and June 28–29 in Daegu. For Jannabi, the journey continues—amplifying their poetic sound and the emotions of youth with every stage.
