SEVENTEEN Breaks Oricon Record with 'HAPPY BURSTDAY'

SEVENTEEN Tops Oricon Chart for 14th Time

K-pop powerhouse SEVENTEEN has once again claimed the top spot on Japan’s prestigious Oricon Chart with their 5th full-length album, HAPPY BURSTDAY. The album recorded an impressive 457,000 copies sold in its first week, becoming their 14th No.1 album on the chart— the most ever by a foreign artist.

10 Consecutive Chart-Topping Albums

Since their 9th mini-album Attacca in 2021, SEVENTEEN has achieved 10 consecutive No.1 placements on the Oricon Chart. Not only does this demonstrate their enduring popularity in Japan, but their first-week sales make HAPPY BURSTDAY the highest-selling album among international artists in Japan this year.

Dominating Digital Charts Worldwide

The album also soared to the top of Japan’s Line Music real-time and daily ‘Top 100 Albums,’ as well as the iTunes and Apple Music ‘Top Albums’ charts. On Oricon’s Daily Album Ranking, it held the No.1 position for an impressive six consecutive days.

Massive Success in South Korea and Beyond

Back home in South Korea, HAPPY BURSTDAY sold over 2.52 million copies in its first week, leading the Hanteo Chart’s weekly rankings. It also became the best-selling K-pop album in terms of first-week sales this year. In China, the album topped QQ Music’s ‘Digital Best-Seller Albums’ chart, showing SEVENTEEN’s massive influence across Asia.

‘THUNDER’ Strikes Global Charts

The album’s title track, ‘THUNDER’, resonated worldwide. It held the No.1 spot for three days on Bugs Music’s daily chart in South Korea and reached the top of Melon’s ‘Top 100’ chart. Billboard praised the song as “explosive, captivating, and incomparable,” while UK-based CLASH called it “a high-quality track perfect for massive summer festivals.” NME also highlighted “the members’ chemistry and the group’s undeniable charm.”

Fueling SEVENTEEN’s Global Momentum

This record-breaking success reflects SEVENTEEN’s artistic growth and the unwavering support of their fanbase, known as CARAT. With momentum stronger than ever, the group is expected to continue expanding their global reach with innovative music and mesmerizing performances.

Fans and critics alike are watching closely as SEVENTEEN charts their course to even greater heights in the worldwide music scene.
