Park Minyoung’s Con Team Inches Dangerously Close to Exposure
Things got extra tense in episode 3 of ‘The Confidence Man KR’ when our trio of charming scammers — Park Minyoung, Park Heesoon, and Joo Jonghyuk — came alarmingly close to getting busted by their latest mark, played by Lee Ikyeong.
An Artful Sting at a Glam Gala
The episode kicks off at an extravagant VIP charity art auction. Park Minyoung’s character Yiran “borrows” a glam persona, jazz singer James (Park Heesoon) croons the room into submission, and Guho (Joo Jonghyuk) slides into chaebol cosplay. Their plan? Expose art critic Yoo Myunghan (Lee Ikyeong), whose smooth-talking persona hides some seriously shady dealings.
Mid-charade, Guho nabs Myunghan’s fingerprint from a wineglass, while Yiran coaxes him upstairs under the guise of romantic interest. But secret safes and shaky nerves nearly tip off Myunghan. Their rescue? James distracts the crowd as Guho narrowly escapes.
Revenge, Revelations, and Fake Paintings
So why all the trouble? Three months earlier, the team learned Myunghan allegedly assaulted a young art student. Seeking payback, they dig into his illegal trades — including forging and selling fakes. Naturally, Yiran, master of disguises, proposes her signature comeback: baiting him with a stolen masterpiece.
She swings by an infamous forger with her crew and orchestrates a hoax so convincing, Myunghan desires the fake. Success! Or so they think…
The Twist: Did They Just Get Played?
Just when they’re celebrating the con, they see their accomplice being arrested. As Yiran panics and calls out, Myunghan looks straight at the trio — suspicion all but confirmed. Cue cliffhanger.
Then, in the teaser: Yiran mutters, “We underestimated him. We got it all wrong.” Oof. Fans are left guessing — are their covers blown for good?
What’s Next for Team Confidence?
If this episode’s any indication, expect more switcheroos, jaw-dropping disguises, and twisted betrayals. Can this band of beautiful liars outwit Korea’s most corrupt elites — or have they finally met their match?
Stay tuned to see if truth or trickery wins out.
