A Royal Pain: Crown Prince Meets Merchant Chaos

Kang Tae-oh and Kim Sejeong are about to shake up tradition (and each other’s lives) in MBC’s newest historical fantasy romance “The Moon Flows on This River”, set to premiere on October 31 at 9:50 PM KST.

Clueless Prince, Fearless Peddler

The K-drama pairs two wildly different leads from opposite walks of Joseon-era life. Kang plays Yi Kang, a hopelessly immature crown prince with a knack for trouble. Meanwhile, Kim stars as Park Dari, a bold traveling merchant (known as a bupo-sangin, or pack peddler in Joseon times) who loses her memory after a mysterious accident—and wakes up living life as a lower-class citizen.

The newly released teaser video wastes no time showing the clash of personalities. Yi Kang may wear royal robes, but his childlike antics make the palace feel more like kindergarten than court. Park Dari, on the other hand, is street-smart and fearless, the type to barter her way to survival anywhere across the kingdom.

Soul Switch Shenanigans

Just as you’re settling in for an opposites-attract storyline, the drama takes a sharp (and hilarious) fantasy turn—by swapping their souls.

Yes, you read that right. After one fateful night, Dari finds herself inside the prince’s body, demanding, “What did you do to me?” while Yi Kang wakes up equally panicked in her skin. The promotional clip hints at plenty of awkward hijinks as they try to navigate unfamiliar bodies—and unfamiliar lives—with lots of laughs along the way.

“Why does the prince know about her past?” teases one cryptic line, stirring curiosity about a hidden connection between the two. Is there a deeper mystery tying them together—or is fate just having a wild laugh?

Expectations for a Soul-Swapping Rom-Com

With playful chemistry, slapstick humor, and a dash of intrigue, The Moon Flows on This River promises a royally entertaining ride. Viewers are already buzzing over the mix of classic body-swap comedy and slow-burn romance set against a lush sageuk backdrop.

Will Dari survive royal etiquette boot camp in a prince’s body? Can Yi Kang handle the hustle of merchant life (and merchant feet)? Tune in to find out—and brace yourself for one mismatched duo’s magical misadventures.
