Yena Spreads Her ‘Blooming Wings’ with a Bold New Sound

Yena is back in full bloom. With her 4th mini album 'Blooming Wings' and a firecracker of a title track, the Gen Z icon returns to the K-pop scene after 10 months.

🌸 Yena’s Back and She’s Not Here to Be ‘Nice’

On June 29, soloist and all-round entertainer Choi Yena made her long-awaited comeback with her 4th mini album, ‘Blooming Wings’. At the media showcase held at Blue Square in Hannam-dong, Seoul, Yena unveiled her colorful new chapter—equal parts delicate and defiant.

💔 First Love, First Goodbye—Through Yena’s Lens

According to Yena, ‘Blooming Wings’ captures the emotional rollercoaster of falling in love, getting hurt, and growing stronger. “It’s the most ‘me’ album I’ve ever released,” she shared.

The album chronicles fluttering first loves, bittersweet heartbreaks on rainy alleyways, and ultimately, the personal growth that follows. It’s a sonic diary, wrapped in orchestral pop with Yena’s signature twist.

🔥 ‘I Hate Being Called Nice’—Title Track With Bite

The title track, ‘착하다는 말이 제일 싫어’ (roughly translated as ‘I Hate Being Called Nice’), is a festival of strings and layered instruments that explode like fireworks in the peak of summer.

Don’t be fooled by its upbeat sound. Yena channels a bittersweet angst through her vocals, creating a contrast that’s as addicting as it is emotional. It’s light, it’s bright, it’s painful—it’s peak Gen Z duality, in one three-minute earworm.

🎤 Gen Z Icon, Variety Queen, K-pop All-Rounder

Already dominating K-dramas and variety shows, Yena reminds everyone that she’s still got plenty to say in her main arena—music. Fans are excited to see her sync her charming on-screen personality with her evolution as a solo artist.

The full album is now available on major streaming platforms, as of June 29 at 6 p.m. KST.

As Yena spreads her ‘Blooming Wings’, one thing’s for sure: being called ‘nice’ just doesn’t cut it anymore.
